Parents and Family
Enchanting the World Since 1988
Welcome,
We thank you for taking an interest in your loved one’s interest in Lambda Tau Omega Sorority, Incorporated. We know that the support and buy in of a loved one is special.
As a loved one you may be on our website trying to get a better understanding of who and what we are, so here’s some background information. In 1988, a group of sixteen young womyn at Montclair State College established our organization, Lambda tau Omega, Sorority, Inc. Their vision was to create a Sorority that would uplift womyn of all social structures while striving towards academic excellence. A Sisterhood that would embrace diversity and that would devote selfless service towards the community; concentrating on children’s welfare.
Today, we live on those values. We currently have one of the highest GPA requirements among sororities and fraternities, and our undergraduate members average a 3.2 GPA. That’s all thanks to the values we uphold through our motto which is excellence through unity, knowledge, and dedication. With like minded, strong womyn on your side as an additional support system, there’s no telling what you can do.
During our new member education process we provide meaningful education about Lambda Tau Omega and develop lasting bonds of Sisterhood between our members. We also help new members develop and utilize real-life skill sets that will be vital to them throughout their career and life. Those skills include but are not limited to networking, public speaking, and problem solving. We have zero tolerance for hazing and discrimination. Our policies and procedures are designed to ensure all activities are safe and productive. We support the dignity and integrity of every member in accordance with our values and do not discriminate regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, social class, marital status, physical ability or attributes, religious or ethical values system, national origin and political beliefs.
Lambda Tau Omega is a lifelong commitment with lifetime rewards. As we say, this is “a Sisterhood to last a lifetime”. With the benefits of membership come responsibilities, and your loved one will be required to meet certain obligations of membership including upholding the mission and values of the Sorority, paying dues and volunteering in the community. We have many sisters who are trailblazers within their communities that your loved one will be able to bond and network with. Those fields include but are not limited to careers in healthcare, education, accounting, government, legal services, law enforcement, and architecture.
We appreciate the time you have taken to explore the values and benefits of our organization.
With respect,
Lambda Tau Omega Sorority, Inc.
